A PHECC First Aid Response recertification course is designed to update and reinforce the knowledge and skills required to provide emergency first aid.
This recertification course ensures participants remain confident and competent to act as a first aider in the workplace, community group, voluntary organisation, or at home. It also revisits the key skills of providing emergency care and using a defibrillator.
Delivery methods – This recertification can be completed either of the following ways –
elearning and day 2 in class or all in class.
Maintains up-to-date skills and knowledge in line with current first aid guidelines and best practices.
· Ensures continued confidence and competence to respond effectively in emergency situations.
· Meets legal and workplace health & safety requirements for first aiders.
· Reinforces correct use of equipment, including defibrillators.
· Helps reduce risks and improve outcomes for those requiring first aid.
· Validates your commitment to ongoing professional development and safety.
Participants must hold a current PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) certificate
· Certification should be valid or due to expire.
· Participants should be physically able to perform first aid procedures.
· Basic literacy and comprehension skills to understand course material.

Any individual who wishes to develop their knowledge, skills and attitude to recognise and care for people with life threatening injuries or non-life threatening injuries before the arrival of advanced medical care.
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2005 you should ensure that you have qualified First Aid Responders on premises, note that the PHECC FAR course covers this requirement.
Additionally anyone who wishes to develop skills or requires First Aid knowledge as part of their interests i.e. Coaching, Parents etc, the PHECC FAR course provides an excellent basis of knowledge for treating people in a pre-hospital environment at a basic level.
Note: This programme requires a high level of trainee participation and interaction where the theory is enhanced by practical demonstration of skills and practical application by trainees.
What about my QQI Level 5 OFA Certificate?
Note that PHECC FAR is now the new standard for First Aiders in the workplace, coming up to your expiry date of your OFA Certificate you should contact a PHECC Recognised Institution or a PHECC Certifified Trainer in order to carry out transfer to the New PHECC Standard. RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) will apply.
Is my OFA Certificate still valid under new guidelines?
Yes as long as the certificate is still in date.
Does the 90 Days Grace Period still apply after expiry?
No the 90 days grace period is no longer available, so please keep not of expiry date of training and ensure Recertification Training is completed before date expires or no later than 30 days.
What do I need to bring?
We supply all course materials, manuals, packs and refreshments.
Do I need experience to attend?
No previous experience is needed to attend this course.
What Certification will I receive?
You will receive a Joint Carraig Safety and PHECC FAR Certificate.
How long is my training Valid for?
Recertification training has to be completed every two years and note that the new standard for PHECC FAR Recertification Course is now 2 Days.
