PHECC Cardiac First Response (CFR Community)

A PHECC Cardiac First Response course is for a person wishing to complete training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Once training has been completed they can respond to someone who has suddenly collapsed. A cardiac first responder plays a critical role in keeping a person alive until the commencement of expert medical care.

PHECC CFR Community level is the pre or co-requisite for entry to PHECC’s Emergency Care (Special Circumstances) courses.

This course is the first stepping stone for those interested in entering the emergency medical services, a healthcare practitioner or becoming a PHECC Certified Trainer in CFR or First Aid Response

Community
A PHECC Cardiac First Responder may become part of a volunteer group on a Community CFR Programme.

Often attending to any emergency/injury can be daunting, completing a PHECC CFR Course will give you the tools to assess situations and deal with them in a calm and confident manner.

Valid for 2 years

Any individual who wishes to develop their knowledge, skills and attitude to bring to an emergency a level of competence of CFR (CPR) for adults, infant and child and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use. Additionally anyone who wishes to develop skills for the relief of foreign body airway obstruction as well as the administration of aspirin for cardiac chest pain and perform a FAST assessment for a stroke patient.

Note: This programme requires a high level of trainee participation and interaction where the theory is enhanced by practical demonstration of skills and practical application by trainees.

What do I need to bring?

We supply all course materials and refreshments.

Do I need experience to attend?

No previous experience is needed to attend this course. PHECC Cardiac First Response (CFR) works both as a foundation course for individuals and for new trainers.

What Certification will I receive?

You will receive a Joint Carraig Safety and PHECC CFR Certificate.

How long is my training Valid for?

Refresher training has to be completed every two years.

How long is the duration of a CFR-Community Course?

Course duration is usually 3.5 to 4 hours in duration.

Who teaches the Course?

Instructors are all certified PHECC Instructors with many years experience in delivering this course.
