The course is suitable for anyone wishing to learn new first aid skills or refresh their existing knowledge. No previous qualifications are needed to complete the training as all basic first aid techniques are covered in detail throughout the course.

The Early Years Inspectorate is accepting evidence of certificate of training of First Aid for Children on inspection. Such certification is from a wide variety of training. Where a service provides evidence of person(s) trained in First Aid for Children and available to children at all times the regulatory requirement is deemed to have been met. This will continue to be acceptable until the 31st May 2020.
First Aid Response (FAR) is the first aid course that will accepted by the early years for the purpose of compliance from 2020. At least one person with FAR should be available on the premises. By 2020 only one FAR trained person is required to be on the premises at any time. Proportionally more will be required in bigger services. No specific figures have been confirmed or are available yet for the bigger services. We recommend that there should be one FAR qualified first aider available at all times depending on your opening times and rostering of staff.

Anyone who wants to be trained and certified as a Paediatric First Aider and deliver first aid care focussing on children. This course is especially designed for people working in child care.
Additionally anyone who wishes to develop skills or requires First Aid knowledge as part of their interests i.e. Coaching, Parents etc., the Paediatric First Aid course provides an excellent basis of knowledge for treating childrren in a pre-hospital environment at a basic level.
Note: This programme requires a high level of trainee participation and interaction where the theory is enhanced by practical demonstration of skills and practical application by trainees.
